CREATE: placemat pillow
i love inexpensive crafts, that can be done quickly...those are the best! here's one of my favorites: turning an $3 placemat into a super cute pillow!
MATERIALS:
fabric placemat (make sure the placemat is made from two seperate pieces of fabric, stitched together around the edges only.)
seem ripper
scissors
needle
thread to match existing thread on placemat
stuffing material
begin in the middle, on the back side of the placemat, by gently pulling at the thread with your seem ripper. cut through the thread and carefully unthread the existing stitching about 3" to each side of where you started. it helps to have about a 6" opening to add the stuffing. be careful not to break the thread...you need for it to be long enough to tie off once you have opened up the seem.
once you have created an opening about 6" wide, pull both lengths of thread through to the back and double tie them off before trimming. this will prevent the seem from opening any further.
once the placemat is stuffed, pin the edges back together and begin stitching the hole. try to match the existing stitching as best as possible.
i told you that was easy!
