birthday adventure: casa bonita
we finished up our week long birthday celebration by going on a little adventure to denver. as a child, going to casa bonita was a big deal each summer, when we would travel to denver for school shopping trips and for birthdays when we lived in denver for a short time. it was a pretty impressive place for a 5 year old. never mind that it is located on west colfax or built into a shopping mall. (and kind of needs an update since i am fairly certain many of the original 1973 items are still in place). it is still a lot of fun, even as an adult. casa bonita is kitschy and truly a denver landmark. it is basically the mexican restaurant version of chucky cheese...complete with caves, a large waterfall, cliff divers and puppet shows. in other words, pretty darned fun for little ones. so, we started the tradition this year with channing and invited a few friends along to join us!
the lighting throughout the place is pretty low so, our photos inside are not the best of quality. channing loved the waterfall and exploring around. the place truly is a series of odd shaped little tunnels and caves...you could definitely get lost...which is kind of part of the fun.
