that title is kind of an understatement....it's been a whole YEAR since my last post. yikes. but, here and i am committed to getting back in the game of writing often. mostly, i love this space a place to jot down my thoughts and for channing to look back on as she grows and wants to see a bit about what things were like around here. i am focusing less on craftiness...because honestly, i just don't have the time or capacity for that anymore...and focusing more on journaling our life here in the now.

an awful lot has happened in the past year. the biggest reason for my lack of writing has been my full time job. it kind of fell into my lap and it's been a great opportunity for me. i am working for a residential design firm as their design director, managing our hawaii and san francisco offices. it's been filled with a lot of challenges and a lot of rewards. i've traveled to san francisco for the first time, as well as oahu and getting ready to head back over to maui quite soon.

around the same time that i began working, channing started preschool. we started her out in a montessori but we decided to move her to a preschool with more standard programming at the beginning of this school year. she's as happy as can be and thriving. she absolutely loves it.

i am so proud of the young lady she is becoming. she's definitely not a baby anymore however...still such a snuggle bug and always reminds me she'll always be my baby. my favorite moments. she's still quite in love with books. her imagination is fantastic. always telling stories, singing songs and being quite the little actress. dressing up is one of her favorites as is crafting, drawing and coloring. she's taken a huge interest in space and science, thanks to her daddy. she definitely has a huge interest in learning new things. such a little sponge. she's kind and thoughtful of others, with a kind little heart...always concerned about everyone's feelings and taking care of those around her, especially those younger than her. we spend a lot of time outside on our lanai and in the yard, swinging, playing in her play house and making up stories with her pretend friends. she's quite a little character.

we've finally found a hobby...paddle boarding. my favorite weekend mornings are spent on the beach, paddling around, playing on the beach and heading to brunch next door and a great local spot called lava lava. winter is here and we haven't been out as much. it's on our list to get more hiking in. something that isn't as easy to access as when we lived in colorado.

right now, christmas is upon us. the weather definitely doesn't feel like it but tis the season. our tree went up this weekend after our first thanksgiving spent with just the three of us. the weather is just right, being cooler and breezy. (we did get an air conditioner which makes the warmer and humid weather much more bearable!) we are excited about the holidays!
